America 250
America 250

Academic Excellence, Creativity, Mutual Respect And Self-Reliance

In early February, the district launched its America 250 initiative with a committee of dedicated volunteer teachers and administrators, who came together to establish a unifying theme: Out of Many, One. From that foundation, the work expanded into both districtwide elementary and secondary committees, where planning quickly gained momentum.
These collaborative efforts have already produced several exciting initiatives designed to engage students across all grade levels. Among them are a secondary logo contest, an elementary poster contest, and districtwide essay and poetry contests. Winning student authors will have the opportunity to share their work at their school celebrations, while poster contest winners will have their artwork displayed throughout the district, with additional student work showcased within individual school buildings. Each of these opportunities reflects and reinforces the district's theme, Out of Many, One.
We are especially proud to recognize Connetquot High School 11th-grade student Kimberly Greenwood, whose winning logo beautifully captures the spirit of diverse perspectives coming together as one unified nation. (Her original artwork is attached, with plans to turn it into stickers, T-shirts, and more).
Culminating celebrations will take place at schools across the district during the first two weeks of June. In the lead-up, each school will host its own America 250 Spirit Week, offering students and staff meaningful, engaging ways to participate. While each school's celebration will be unique, many will feature musical performances, student presentations, and opportunities for contest winners to share their work, all set against a backdrop of patriotic pride and schoolwide displays.
To further support this work, both the elementary and secondary committees have developed resource collections for teachers, helping to bring the significance of America 250 into classrooms throughout the district.
Together, these efforts show the progress we've made and the district's shared excitement and commitment to celebrating America 250 as one united community.
