Connetquot Italian students celebrate Dantedì

Connetquot’s Italian students celebrated Dantedì, a day dedicated to Italian culture and the legacy of Dante Alighieri. Students in grades 8-12 rotated through a variety of cultural and educational stations throughout the school.
In the library, students participated in Italian slang trivia, played “Italian-style” musical chairs, built LEGO replicas of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and chose between Italian-themed face paint or temporary tattoos.
Meanwhile, in the auditorium, students stepped into “gladiator school,” where they learned basic gladiator-style moves, practiced steps from “la tarantella,” a traditional southern Italian dance, and even picked up popular Italian soccer chants.
One classroom was transformed into “la cucina Italiana,” offering food demonstrations and tastings of traditional Italian dishes, while another gave students the opportunity to create brightly colored masks in preparation for Carnevale.
Students also visited a classroom dedicated to learning more about Dante, gaining a deeper understanding of his life and lasting impact on the Italian language and culture.
