CTE Month spotlight: Connetquot’s Business Academy

In honor of February being Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, we are proud to highlight the Connetquot Business Academy, a New York State approved CTE pathway that prepares students for success in college, careers and beyond.
The Business Academy offers students a comprehensive and hands-on learning experience through a robust sequence of coursework, including Virtual Enterprise, Microsoft Office, Personal Financial Literacy, and a wide range of business electives in accounting, marketing, investments, management and entrepreneurship.
Students culminate their studies by completing a CTE exam, which demonstrates their mastery of business and career-ready skills and allows them to pursue a 4+1 graduation pathway option upon successful completion.
Beyond the classroom, students benefit from meaningful connections. The program features local guest speakers and industry panels, giving students the opportunity to engage directly with professionals, ask questions and explore potential career paths. Field trips to local businesses further connect coursework to real-world applications, while the development of an Employability Profile helps students showcase their skills and readiness for the workforce.
The photos shown highlight Business Academy students participating in the Virtual Enterprise Regional Trade Show and Business Plan Competition at LIU Post, where they presented their work, collaborated with peers from other schools and demonstrated the skills they’ve developed through the Business Academy.
Established during the 2021-2022 school year, the Connetquot Business Academy graduates approximately 15-20 seniors each year, equipping them with the knowledge, experience and confidence to thrive in today’s evolving business landscape.
