Slocum second graders had the exciting opportunity to learn firsthand what it’s like to be an author through a special video call with Shannon Olsen! She shared pictures and videos that showed how her books come to life, from the first words on the page to the finished story. Shannon explained how she works closely with her illustrator to make sure the pictures perfectly match her words.

She also talked about the importance of revising and editing, key steps that help make every story the very best it can be. Inspired by this, our young writers are practicing these same skills during Writer’s Workshop as they edit and revise their own writing.
