Connetquot’s first cohort of LICAB student ambassadors take a stand against bullying

Long Island Coalition Against Bullying (LICAB) student ambassador training is underway for 24 Connetquot High School students in grades 9-12! These students were selected for their outstanding leadership qualities and will represent the first cohort of Bullying Prevention Student Ambassadors.
Through several sessions, the ambassadors will learn about bullying and its four major forms, explore why bullying occurs, and examine the differences and similarities between conflict and bullying. They will also focus on how best to support others through empathy and effective listening strategies. As the program continues, ambassadors will explore the role of leadership in addressing bullying and learn how reframing language can help reduce stigma while encouraging open discussion, reporting, and resolution. The sessions will conclude with the creation of a student-led slideshow to be used in middle and elementary school presentations, as well as high school health classroom visits.
