Connetquot promotes health and healing at Community Wellness Day

More than 700 community members came together on Sept. 27 to celebrate health, healing and connection during Community Wellness Day, held at the Connetquot Public Library.
The event featured nearly 50 wellness vendors, filling the library and surrounding area with resources and activities promoting physical, emotional and mental well-being. Attendees participated in a wide range of interactive presentations, including dance fitness with Kerboom Kidz, karate from Dragon Gate Martial Arts, yoga, sound bowl healing, mindfulness glitter jar-making, Reiki and sound bowl healing, therapeutic guided painting and more.
Suffolk County Police Department hosted NARCAN training and a “Shed the Meds” drop-off, emphasizing the importance of safe prescription drug disposal. Additionally, the Bohemia Fire Department offered a simulated “smoke house” experience to teach fire safety in a realistic setting.
Molloy University’s Health Services Mobile Clinic was also on-site with students under faculty supervision providing free health screenings, mental health support and community referrals.
Attendees enjoyed free samples from local, health-conscious food vendors, crafts, music from a live DJ and over 20 raffle baskets, including an autographed New York Islanders jersey.
This year’s event was proudly sponsored by Youth Enrichment Services and Islip Goes Purple, supporting mental health awareness, substance use prevention and recovery.
