Boys and Girls Badminton Teams Win Double-Header

History was made on April 9, when the Connetquot High School boys badminton team earned a 5-3 victory over the visitors from Central Islip High School.

This was the very first win for the T-Birds sport that was introduced just this year. Not to be outdone, the Connetquot girls badminton team earned a 7-2 victory over the visitors from Central Islip as well. The girls conference record is 2-0, while the boys evened their conference record to 1-1.

The T-Birds’ Scott Lyons defeated Dylan Ganga to lead Connetquot in its Suffolk I contest. Additionally, Joanna Forrest defeated Estephany Cruz in their Suffolk I match.

Girls Lacrosse Team Defeats William Floyd High School at Home

The Connetquot High School girls lacrosse team defeated the visitors from William Floyd High School by a final score of 11-1 on April 10, under the lights, as the T-Birds try to schedule several late afternoon/night games to be played on the Connetquot High School artificial turf field each season. 

The T-Birds got off to a fast start, holding a solid 4-0 half-time advantage. While William Floyd was able to score late in the second half, Connetquot added 7 more points to make the final result 11-1 in favor of the home team.  

Connetquot scorers were led by Anna Thornton (4), Hayley Weltner (3) and Morgan Elliott (2). Erin McLoughlin and Gabriella Carere each scored a goal as well, and added one assist apiece.

Additionally, Connetquot goalie Sydney Danseglio was credited with one save in the T-Birds’ win. With this win under their belt, Connetquot improves to 4-2 while Floyd drops to 3-5 in Suffolk League I.

Softball Team Defeats Smithtown West With 7th Inning Rally

The Connetquot High School girls softball team is off to a strong start this season, and with their recent 6-5 win over Smithtown West High School, improved their overall record to 5-2.  

While the T-Birds trailed at 4-2 going into the third inning, they were able to rally and come on strong later in the game, scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to take the lead, and, ultimately, the win. 

Bella Andres pitched 4 1/3 innings and is credited with the win, as Rebecca Schwartz went 3-4 including a seventh-inning home run and two RBIs. Cailin Hall went 2-4, including a triple and one RBI. Additionally, Cailin tied the score at 5 with her triple, and scored the winning run, giving the T-Birds their come-from-behind victory.
