All-State Gymnasts Secure Bronze Medals at State Competition

Three T-Birds recently traveled to Cold Spring Harbor on March 3 for the annual All-State gymnastics competition championships and earned bronze medals for an impressive third-place finish in New York State. 

Sarah Moussa, Amanda Pisano and Alexis Smith qualified for the All-New York team, and their performances helped the Section XI team surpass expectations. Amanda Pisano scored 8.675, while Alexis Smith scored a 9.05 in the vault. Sarah Moussa scored 8.2 on the bars, 9.125 on the beam and 8.5 on the floor exercises.

“We had six student-athletes compete for Suffolk County individual honors, and three were named to the All-New York State team,” said Connetquot High School gymnastics coach Renee Guerrieri. “Amanda, Sarah and Alexis were impressive at states and I am so very proud of them.”

Connetquot finished the regular season undefeated at 11-0 and was one of only six schools to compete for the Suffolk County championships. The Connetquot community has praised the talented members of the district’s gymnastics team and coaches for their poise, grace and execution throughout the season.
