Seventh graders in Signora Fusco’s Italian class at Oakdale-Bohemia Middle School learned all about the Italian artist, Amedeo Modigliani.

Modigliani, an early 20th century artist from northern Italy, was well-known for painting portraits of Parisian influencers while he was living in Montmartre at the turn of the century. He is best known for his unique style, interpreting his subjects with long necks, almond-shaped eyes and small lips. While working on their personal identification unit, the students had fun creating self-portraits, imitating Modigliani’s style.
