Members of the Oakdale-Bohemia Middle School community recently gathered on school grounds to create a memorial to all those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. Organized by the school’s Patriot Day Committee under the direction of English Language Arts teacher Patty Alway, the memorial featured 3,000 American flags, which were purchased with funds they had collected last school year. These funds also went toward buying books, videos and inspirational wall decor related to Patriot Day for use throughout the school. The committee plans to continue their efforts to recognize Patriot Day each September.
