School Social Worker

The School Social Worker at Idle Hour is Mrs. Lara McNally.  The Youth and Family Services program is a school-based support service that assists students with their emotional, social, and academic development. Some of the services  provided are: crisis intervention, counseling for individuals and groups, parent consultation, information and referral to community based agencies, as well as a variety of prevention programs to meet the needs of Idle Hour Elementary.

As the YFS coordinator, I will provide state mandated health lessons for all students in grades K-5 through classroom presentations.  The foundation for our elementary curriculum is HEALTHSmart as well as other resources to enhance the presentations.  This curriculum focuses on developing and practicing healthy behaviors in the areas of Tobacco and Alcohol Prevention, Safety and Injury Prevention, Personal and Family Health, and Nutrition and Physical Activity.

As the School Social Worker, my goal is to set the tone for developing the skill, knowledge and attitudes necessary for children to become healthy, productive adults.  I work as part of a team with school, parents, and community to create a caring atmosphere whereby children's needs are met through prevention, early identification and intervention.

Mrs. Lara McNally, L.M.S.W, is a licensed School Social Worker.  Mrs. McNally may be reached from 9:05 - 3:35 p.m.    If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at 244-2306 Ext 6518.
