RMS “Chalks the Walk”

Ronkonkoma Middle Schoolers recently participated in “Chalk Your Walk,” a two-day PTA-sponsored event in which students used chalk to decorate the sidewalk around the school with uplifting messages and images. Connetquot Central School District thanks the RMS PTA for coordinating this social-emotional event, which was a great opportunity for the students to get outside and enjoy the spring weather while spreading positivity and school spirit.

Red Ribbon Week

Each October, Ronkonkoma Middle School celebrates Red Ribbon Week, a national drug-abuse prevention campaign. This year, Youth-Family Service Coordinator Kimberly Nofi and school counselor Tara Sullivan planned a week of activities including a virtual assembly, a different dress-up theme each day, and having students individually sign cards pledging to be “drug-free.” The pledge cards were then displayed outside of the cafeteria as a reminder that RMS students are strong, brave and committed to living “healthy, happy and drug-free lives.”
