Why Do Children Need Quality Daily Physical Education?

Due to recent research on high obesity rates in children, it is important for your child to participate in physical education class. Physical education class has many other benefits such as; improving your child’s self-esteem, interpersonal relationships, responsible behavior, and independence. Additionally, there has also been many studies proven that physical education improves a child’s mental alertness, academic performance, readiness to learn, and enthusiasm for learning.

Our quality physical education program has sequentially planned objectives to teach motor skills, knowledge and understanding about content, and appreciation towards physical activity. Some of the topics we will be covering in class are cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, flexibility, skillful moving, active lifestyle habits, and promoting constructive use of leisure time in connection with physical activity.

Most importantly, in every lesson there will be a character education component discussed such as: leadership, acceptance, responsibility, accountability, kindness, integrity, courage, pride, and perseverance.

As always, please discuss with your child what they did in class and utilize these skills we teach in class at home during family time to strengthen our school and community partnership.

We would like to thank you in advance for your time, support, and cooperation.

Physical Education Policy for Proper Attire:

We are asking for your help with teaching your child to be responsible for coming to class prepared to participate in Physical Education days. We encourage your child to come to physical education wearing active wear (shorts, t-shirts, athletic pants etc.) as well as sneakers that tie or velcro sneakers with ankle support. We also ask that the sneakers are suitable for physical activity. No platform shoes, dress shoes, and flip flops. Jewelry is not permitted. All students should leave jewelry at home on Physical Education days so it does not get broken or misplaced. Overall, our main concern is to teach all children in a safe learning environment.
