District Appoints Director of Social Studies and Business

The district is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert Cassagne for the position of director of social studies and business, effective Aug. 2.

Since 2018, Mr. Cassagne served as the assistant principal of Consewogue High School. As assistant principal, he worked closely with the social studies department to ease the transition to the New York State K-12 framework curriculum and exams through professional development and department meetings. He also partnered with local colleges to offer dual credit courses to students across various disciplines and implemented the New York State Seal of Biliteracy committee as its coordinator. Additionally, Mr. Cassagne facilitated the growth of the high school business department through various internships afforded to students, utilizing the high school’s School to Business Partnership. Mr. Cassagne started his career at Connetquot Central School District where, for eight years, he taught ninth, 11th and 12th grade social studies at Connetquot High School.

“I am incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to return to the place where my teaching career began, and to work with the best group of educators,” My Cassagne said. “My primary goal for 2021-2022 is to continue strengthening the social studies and business departments, helping to provide the students of Connetquot with the skills they need to succeed as they move forward in their educational and vocational endeavors.”

Mr. Cassagne acquired a Bachelor of Science in interdisciplinary social studies and secondary education, as well as Master of Arts in teaching and certification in social studies from James Madison University. He also acquired certification in educational leadership from Stony Brook University.
