Girls Soccer Team Defeats No. 1 Team
 
Connetquot High School girls varsity soccer coaches Ryan Cavanagh and Jen Monahan keep reminding their players that they have the potential to compete with any school on their schedule this season. Recently, the team did just that. At home in front of a loud and supportive crowd of family and friends on Oct. 5, the Lady T-Birds rose to the occasion by defeating Sachem East High School, the No. 1 team in Suffolk County Conference I. 

Connetquot scored in the first half and held the visitors scoreless for the rest of the game, earning an exciting 1-0 victory against Sachem East.

Connetquot came into the match with a respectable 3-4-2 record while Sachem East boasted an impressive 6-3 conference mark. CHS sophomore Laney Schmitz scored the only goal of the game in the 32nd minute of the first half on an assist by Michala Perez. Tremendous energy and defense by the T-Birds kept the visitors off balance for the majority of the match, which earned Connetquot a genuine team win. Additionally, Connetquot goalie Nicolette Pasquarella earned the shutout while being credited with six saves against Sachem East.


Golf Team Maintains Second-Place Standing in League I

The Connetquot High School boys varsity golf team traveled to the West Sayville golf course to take on Sayville High School on Tuesday, Oct. 8. Despite dropping an 8-1 decision to the Sayville Flashes, Connetquot maintains its hold on second place in Suffolk County League I.  

Sachem currently holds first place in League I with a record of 8-0, followed closely by the Connetquot T-Birds. Suffolk County championship playoffs will begin shortly after the regular season is concluded. Coach Gary Pesko is confident in his players and looks forward to their rising to the occasion at playoff time!

Boys Soccer Team Falls to Commack

The Connetquot High School boys soccer team hosted the undefeated Commack High School team on Oct. 7, and despite an aggressive defense and improved offensive play, the T-Birds fell to the visitors by a final score of 5-1. First-year head coach Francisco Herrera continues to see his team improve and is confident that its best games are yet to come.  

Connetquot’s Christian Rivera scored the T-Birds’ only goal. In addition, Kyle Monahan and freshman Tyler Moore combined for 12 saves. Connetquot fans continue to support their T-Birds, and look forward to continued improvement as the season winds down.
