Connetquot High School’s chapter of the National Business Honor Society has been recognized as a Gold Partner with Junior Achievement USA.

The chapter received this honor due to the students’ involvement in the High School Heroes program, for which students attended four hours of training for Junior Achievement’s “More than Money” program. After being trained, the high school students taught Connetquot fifth graders about financial literacy, entrepreneurship, goods and services and global markets. 

Through hands-on activities, the elementary students learned a practical approach to starting a business and making smart decisions about managing money. Additionally, by volunteering their time, the high school students learned to build employability skills such as leadership, public speaking, critical thinking and time management.

According to Connetquot Central School District Director of Business and Social Studies Margaret Ronai, the Gold Partner status will provide additional internship and job shadowing opportunities with Junior Achievement corporate sponsors for the students.

Due to the successes of the National Business Honor Society, chapter advisers Gina Senft and Andrea Pizzimenti have been invited to attend the Junior Achievement’s Annual Celebration, set to take place in Manhattan on Oct. 15.
