A number of elementary-level teachers from the district recently attended the Western Suffolk BOCES Outdoor Education training session held at the Sunken Meadow State Park Outdoor Learning Lab. With these new qualifications, teachers are eligible to register for different instructional curricula that culminates with field trip opportunities in science for students in grades K-12. Additionally, this afforded teachers who were not trained in the past a refresher on new programs offered. According to Elementary STEM Chairperson Bethanie Rizzo, a number of additional teachers will be offered to partake in similar training sessions this upcoming fall as well.
