The district congratulates Connetquot High School junior Edward Sollazzo for being presented with a New York State Senate Youth Leadership Recognition Award as sponsored by New York State Senator Phil Boyle.

“February is Youth Leadership Month, making it the perfect time to highlight the New York State Senate’s Youth Leadership Recognition Awards program,” said Senator Boyle. “The program recognizes and honors outstanding students who will become our future leaders.” 

Edward Sollazzo was nominated for this prestigious award by his physical education teacher, Katherine Marasia. She praised his work ethic, mentioned that he is an Advanced Placement student, active in the community, excels in two varsity sports and participates in the school’s symphony orchestra. Edward is also a member of the National Math Honor Society. As part of his Eagle Scout project, he created a Buddy Bench and little free library at Sycamore Avenue Elementary School and donated funds received to the school for upcoming projects.
