Girls Varsity Volleyball Celebrates Senior Night with Win over Huntington HS: The Connetquot High School girls’ varsity volleyball team, coach Karen Edwards and the T-Bird community celebrated Senior Night on Oct. 15. Connetquot seniors Karly Colletti, Lexi Raimondi, Joanna Forrest, Marissa Edwards and Sierra Baldock were presented with flowers, gifts, and showered with affection from their teammates and coaching staff. The T-Birds celebrated this special night by defeating league rival Huntington HS in straight sets, 25-19, 25-15 and 25-23 improving its record to 8-2. The Connetquot Lady T-Birds now rank third of 12 teams in Suffolk League II.

Connetquot was led by the play of Alexa Colodona (26 assists, 1 block and 9 digs), Sierra Baldock (4 kills and 2 blocks), Karly Colletti (11 kills and 15 digs), Marissa Edwards (9 kills, 2 blocks, 10 assists and 7 digs), Joanna Forrest (6 kills, 2 blocks and 2 digs) and Lauren Konzen (3 aces and 14 digs).

Congratulations to Connetquot’s graduating seniors, and best of luck to the Lady T-Birds as they head towards playoff consideration.

Boys Volleyball Senior Night v E. Hampton: The boys’ varsity volleyball coach Jessica Perry and her staff celebrated Senior Night on Oct. 19 with a straight-set win over East Hampton, extending their winning streak to ten games! The T-Birds defeated the visitors by scores of 25-14, 25-15 and 25-15, while improving their overall record to 11-2.

Ben Lilllie had 8 kills, 4 aces and 3 blocks; Dom Ruggiero was credited with 38 assists, 5 aces and 6 digs, while Connor Ruais had 2 aces and 7 digs in the win over East Hampton.

Prior to the game, family, friends, teammates and coaches gathered to recognize the graduating seniors and shower them with praise and gifts. Congratulations to the following graduating seniors, and best of luck as you move on to the next level of your interest and careers: Connor Hurleigh, Ben Lillie, Vansh Patel, Connor Ruais, Dom Ruggiero and Ryan Werner.

Connetquot/Islip Swim and Dive Celebrate Senior Night with Win: The Connetquot/East Islip swim and dive team hosted the team from Huntington/Whitman on Oct. 21 and recognized its graduating seniors by earning a 97-89 win.

“Our medley relay did a season best time” (2:08.52), according to T-Bird coach Alex Scichilone. “There were also many lifetime ‘best’ achievements as well by Grace Platti, Carly Manfredonia Kylie Martiniz, Jess Hendricks, Ella Causin, Jasmine Evans and Karina Fitzpatrick.”

The following seniors were recognized by the large, loud and supportive, crowd of family, friends and fellow students: Morgan Cassidy, Karina Fitzpatrick, Jessica Hendricks, Carly Manfredonia and Morgan Shurgin.

The seniors were showered with love, funny anecdotes by their teammates, flowers and gifts. Congratulations to the Connetquot/East Islip graduating seniors and thank you for your dedication and leadership. The team finished third in Suffolk League I for dual meets this season!

Girls Soccer Celebrates Senior Night Against Northport: On Oct. 20, the girls’ varsity soccer coach Ryan Cavanagh welcomed conference rival Northport High School for the annual Senior Night game. Prior to tip-off, seniors from each team were called out onto the field with their parents and recognized for their leadership and career achievements. According to coach Cavanagh, this was one of the largest graduating classes of T-Birds, who have shaped the program over their careers, and will be missed.

Congratulations to the following graduating Lady T-Birds: Ainsley Bishop-Scioli, Ava Boldi, Maddie Digaetano, Makayla Doscher, Isabella Horan, Angelina Katrivanos, Ella LeBrun, Ginamarie Mannino, Rita Marie Masi, Ella McNay, Gabby Pinero, Brianna Ramos, Laney Schmitz, Safia Sheetha, Hannah Steiner and Sam Wilkinson.

While the final score of 4-1 was disappointing, it did not diminish the joy of celebrating the contributions and leadership of Connetquot’s graduating seniors. Senior, Rita Marie Masi scored the T-Birds’ lone goal, and senior Gabby Pinero was credited with ten saves.

JV Boys Volleyball v. E. Hampton: Connetquot JV boys volleyball coach Nick Piampiano reports that his team defeated East Hampton at home on Oct.19, winning two of three matches 25-18, 25-22 and 23-25. The team’s overall record now stands at 8-4, while the junior T-Birds enjoy a three-game winning streak. Coach pointed to strong performances by Brennan O’Connor (six kills), Dylan Wilkinson (13 assists) and John Flaherty (4 kills) as the season winds down.
