Connetquot CSD Appoints Director of Fine Arts and Music

The district is pleased to announce the appointment of Vincent Malafronte as Director of Fine Arts and Music, effective July 13. Mr. Malafronte replaced popular and recently deceased director Jon-Michael Lasher.   

Mr. Malafronte, member of the Connetquot High School Class of 2002, is a familiar face in the district where he has taught for the past 16 years, first as a Ronkonkoma Middle School general music teacher and seventh and eighth grade band teacher. For the past six years, Mr. Malafronte taught symphonic band and jazz lab at Connetquot High School and served as associate marching band director. During the duration of his teaching career, Mr. Malafronte has been actively involved in musicals and stage crew at both the middle school and high school level. He also serves as assistant marching band director at Stony Brook University. 

Mr. Malafronte described himself as a huge advocate for students, staff and the community in the area of fine arts and music. “My goal is to get everyone to remember why they are here, to find a connection to creativity and joy,” he said.  

Mr. Malafronte holds a Bachelor of Art degree in music education from Ithaca College and a Master of Art degree in arts and liberal studies from Stony Brook University. He also acquired advanced certification in educational leadership from SBU.
