Connetquot High School recently hosted close to 200 students from 12 area high schools for its annual full-day Model UN Conference. During the conference, participants simulated the structure and function of the United Nations organization. Each student-delegate was assigned to represent a sovereign nation, placed on a committee to discuss important current world topics and concerns, and asked to make recommendations. There were 12 standing committees for the student-delegates to join. According to CHS Model UN adviser Jennifer Bay, the event was a “huge success” thanks to the students who “put in countless hours preparing for this conference.”
