Girls Winter Track Team Competes in Suffolk League II Championships

Connetquot’s girls winter track team competed in the Jan. 8 Suffolk League II Championship Winter Track meet at Suffolk Community College in Brentwood and finished at an impressive fourth place in the 10-team event. Coach Jim Crowley was pleased with the team’s poise and performance in this year’s championships.

This year’s Senior Night celebration will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 12. Congratulations to all the girls, especially to the seniors for their leadership and commitment this season.

Boys Swim Team Improves to 6-1 with Brentwood Win

On Jan. 17, The Connetquot/East Islip High Schools swim and dive team celebrated “Senior Night” with an impressive 88-76 win over visiting Brentwood. Coach Alex Scichilone was pleased with the team’s effort and celebrated the win and his seniors along with supportive family and friends.

Christian Ortiz won the 200-yard IM in 2:10.07, James Llewellyn won the 100-yard Fly in 57:05 and the team of John Stanzione, James Llewellyn, Nick Spameni and Nick Russel won the 200-freestyle relay in 1:33.10 for Connetquot. T-Birds are now 6-1 in Suffolk’s League I.

Boys Basketball Continues Their Efforts to Rebuild

Connetquot High School boys basketball coach Andrew Clair and his T-Birds continue to work hard but are struggling during this rebuilding year. The locals took on crosstown competitor Commack High School on January 17th but fell short by a score of 76-40. The T-Birds fall to 1-6 in Suffolk League II.

Senior forward Dylan Waring led the home team with 14 points, including two 3-point baskets. Junior forward Aidan Orgonas scored 10, including two 3-pointers. Junior Tyler Youmans led the T-Birds in rebounding and defense in the lane. The Connetquot community will celebrate its seniors, at home, on Thursday, Feb. 6 against neighboring Sachem North High School.
