Girls Lacrosse Team Drops 8-3 Decision to Smithtown East

With the regular season winding down, and the Suffolk County championship tournament on the horizon, the Connetquot girls lacrosse team needs a few more wins to qualify.

On May 8, Coach Piscatelli and the team celebrated their Senior Night, and hoped to score an important win over neighboring Smithtown East High School. The pregame festivities were memorable for our players and even the visiting seniors. Connetquot introduced the Smithtown seniors and presented each with a beautiful rose. The girls youth lacrosse players were also on hand to present roses to the seniors on both teams as a means of showing respect.

Unfortunately, Smithtown got off to a quick start, leading 5-1 at the half, and ultimately earned an 8-3 win over our Thunderbirds. Smithtown’s record now stands at 10-3 while Connetquot is 7-7, with an outside chance at qualifying for the tournament.

Gabriella Carere, Emma McLoughlin and Jolie Urraro scored one goal each, and Nicole Serravillo was credited with seven saves against Smithtown East.

Coach Piscatelli and his staff expressed their gratitude to the graduating seniors for their leadership this season. Congratulations, and thank you, to seniors Gina Barbera, Emma McLoughlin, Julia Napolitano, Kelsi Richardson and Jolie Urraro!
