Micah and Justin both jumped an impressive 11 feet, while Mike jumped 13 feet, which ties a season personal record, along with taking second place in the county. Additionally, Tom won with a personal record jump of 14 feet, breaking his own school indoor record set earlier this season (13 feet 6 inches) and becoming the county champion. The Domozych brothers will compete in the New York State championship meet at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island on March 2.

Congratulations to coaches Shelby White and Tim Fischer and the Connetquot High School track and field team. You’ve made us proud; good luck as we look forward to the statewide competition on March 2!

Connetquot High School Basketball Alumni Represent Six Decades of Excellence

Connetquot High School boys’ basketball coach Tim Trava brought together alumni members from the program’s “golden years” on Saturday, Feb. 2, inviting 24 former T-Birds representing six decades at Connetquot High School for the fifth annual Basketball Alumni Classic.

Coach Trava, along with assistant coaches Matt Buderman and Keith Cussmano, as well as retired coaches Ralph Thomas and Bob Drzal, brought back former student-athletes who hoped to relive the glory of their high school playing days. Despite the graying hair, expanding waistlines and reluctant leg muscles, the 2019 alumni basketball players entertained their loud and loving fans with promising defense, long jump shots and sharp passes.

The alumni were divided into two equal teams that played two, 20-minute periods so the players would get plenty of playing and rest time. Despite years of being away from their high school playing days, the 2019 Connetquot Basketball Alumni Classic was competitive and fun to watch. Coach Trava provided the audio play-by-play, as well as colorful commentary.

Thanks again to coaches Buderman, Cussmano, Drzal, Thomas and Trava for arranging the 2019 Connetquot Basketball Alumni Classic, and a special thanks to the players and their supportive family and friends who made this such a special event.
