Boys Swimming and Diving Team Wins First Meet of Season

Congratulations to the Connetquot High School boys swimming and diving team on securing a victory during their first League II meet of the season against the Huntington/Harborfields High School team on Dec. 11. 

The combined swimmers representing Connetquot and East Islip high schools were led by Dylan Macejko, Nolan Russell and Christian Ortiz, each of whom qualified for the Suffolk County Swimming Championships, which will be held in February 2019. 

The combined Connetquot/East Islip High School team currently shares first place in League II with an overall record of 2-1. Way to go, T-Birds! 

Girls Basketball Team Tied for First Place in League II

The Connetquot High School girls basketball team played an exciting game against Smithtown West High School on Dec. 12, earning their first league win with a final score of 48-39, thus tying for the first-place title in League II.

The T-Birds’ resilient offense, patient defense and strong rebounding paid off by the end of the game. Point guard Morgan Elliott led the team with 13 points, followed closely by Emma Bunicci and Mia Calloway with six points each. Additionally, Jenna Erdman was credited as the top rebounder with nine rebounds and five additional points of her own. 

In total, six T-birds scored for Connetquot, with Dana McCall adding a three-point basket early in the game.  

Connetquot’s next home game will be on Dec. 20 at 6 p.m., as the teams hosts Riverhead High School.
