Girls Cross-Country Team Competes in Suffolk County Championships

Eight team members of Connetquot High School’s cross-country team recently competed in the Section XI Suffolk County championships held on Nov. 2 at Sunken Meadow State Park.  

“These girls had a terrific season,” said coach Mike Austin. “Four of them have made the Connetquot Top 50 All-Time List, and I am very proud of their efforts’ displayed this season.”

Student-athletes Katie Iocca and Isabella Cottone were both named to the All-League and All-Suffolk County cross-country teams. Additionally, Katie Iocca was named to the All-Division team, while Lauren Murphy was named to the freshman All-League team.  
Congratulations to all of the students who qualified for this year’s Section XI championships – Isabella Cottone, Katie Iocca, Audrey Joseph, Andrea Martino, Karli McGee, Lexie Moore, Lauren Murphy and Melanie Walsh.

Connetquot High School Gymnasts Named to All-State Team

Connetquot High School varsity gymnastics coach Renee Guerrieri is pleased to announce that student-athletes Amanda Pisano and Sarah Moussa will represent Suffolk County at the New York State championships, which will be held on March 3 at Cold Spring Harbor High School, while Alexandra Melchiona (floor exercises) and Arianna Platti (vault) were named alternates for the state championships. 

Additionally, the T-Birds finished its season as the runner-up in the Section XI Suffolk County championships! 

Congratulations to Alexandra Melchiona, Amanda Pisano and Arianna Platti for being named to the Section XI team to compete in the New York State championships, and to the Connetquot High School gymnastics team for an outstanding season. The Connetquot community is so very proud of your accomplishments!

Ice Hockey Team Claims Victory

The Connetquot and Sayville High Schools’ combined ice hockey team picked up its fifth win of the season by defeating Ward Melville High School by a final score of 7-3 on its home ice at the Rinx in Hauppauge on Nov. 14.

Tommy Arceri and Mark Radzewsky scored two goals each, while Benny McAloney, Andrew Ohman and Brian Paris each scored once. Tommy Arceri, Chris Biava, Danny Connolly and Matt Hulle were credited with assisting these goals. Additionally, goalie Tyler Scheibe picked up 26 saves toward the team’s win. 

Connetquot fell behind early, but led 4-2 after two periods. Tight defense and sharp passing allowed the home team to open its lead in the third period and ultimately win the game.
