Connetquot High School senior Victor Barsotti recently earned the Scholar-Artist Award from the Long Island Arts Alliance, based on both his artistic talents and commitment to maintaining a high academic grade point average.

Victor’s artistic medium focuses on Media Arts category, since he has created a number of his own films, including “Beard-O,” “Act Normal” and “Bye-Bye Birdie.” While his love for filmmaking didn’t entirely take shape until he was a sophomore, he recalls feeling something for the art form when he was much younger.

“My plans are to pursue a degree in film, and to specifically work for National Geographic one day,” said Victor. “Whether it be movie sets or TV shows, anything in my future that involves media would be my ultimate goal."

Victor was nominated for the award by Connetquot High School fine arts teacher Ross Grandin and Connetquot Central School District Director for Fine Arts and Music Jon-Michael Lasher.

“Victor has done nothing but impress,” said Mr. Grandin. “We are all very proud of his accomplishments.”
