Connetquot High School sophomores Biproprosad Das, Atif Khan and Keith Grant recently competed against more than 600 students from 34 states and countries in the SeaPerch Challenge held at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
According to their website, SeaPerch is an innovative underwater robotics program that equips teachers and students with the resources they need to build an underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle in an in-school or out-of-school setting. It provides students with the opportunity to learn about robotics, engineering, science and mathematics.
The students received individual awards for their efforts and Connetquot High School Science Research teacher John Halloran received the Challenge Winner Award for the team.
The International SeaPerch Challenge is only open to teams that have earned a space to advance by winning at a properly registered Qualifying Competition. This innovative Connetquot High School team completed the first challenge in seven minutes, 13 seconds and the second part in three minutes.
