As a result of 13 years of dedication and academic success, Connetquot High School seniors Dogan Okur and Giavana Prucha have been named the Class of 2018 valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively. 

During his high school career, Dogan has been a member of Science Olympiad, the robotics team, National Honor Society and Math Honor Society. He will be attending Stony Brook University this fall, where he plans to focus his studies on the field of engineering. He graduates having attained a weighted GPA of 102.76.

Giavana has been a member of Science Olympiad, the National Honor Society and the Foreign Language Honor Society, where she served as vice president. Additionally, she played on the varsity field hockey team and has earned both the silver and bronze awards from the Girl Scouts. Giavana has committed to attending Syracuse University this fall, where she’ll be majoring in biology and chemistry with a concentration in medicine. She will be graduating with an equally impressive weighted GPA of 102.68.

Both students received the AP Scholar with Distinction title from the College Board, and have successfully enrolled in and completed at least eight AP courses throughout their high school careers. 

The district congratulates both students on this stunning accomplishment and wishes them well throughout all of their future endeavors.
