Girls Track Team Remains Strong in the Postseason

At the May 30 Senior Night celebration, coach Jim Crowley III congratulated the girls track team for another League II championship, thanked the graduating seniors for their leadership and revealed that several team members are still competing.

As the 2017-2018 school year winds down, Bryanna Holguin is seeded No. 2 for the upcoming New York State qualifying meet in the triple jump.

“Bryanna is seeded second in both the Suffolk County and New York State competition,” Crowley said. “If she finishes first or second in the qualifying meet, Bryanna’s season will continue on to the New York State competition, which will be held in Syracuse, New York.”

Bryanna (triple jump) and Serena Roopnarine (racewalk) have already hit the standard for the nationals, and will be competing in Greensboro, North Carolina, on June 15-16. Connetquot’s Kianna Plummer is less than one second away in the racewalk and hopes to qualify this weekend by walking under 7:35 in the 1,500-meter racewalk.

Coaches Crowley, Mike Austin and Chris Pedersen met with the Suffolk County League II champion Connetquot High School track and field members on Senior Night to celebrate the team’s success, recognize its graduating seniors and support the young ladies that continue to compete wearing the T-Bird red, black and white!

Connetquot High School Baseball Team Finishes Impressive Season

The Connetquot High School varsity baseball team finished the season with a more than respectable 16-10 record and a spot in the Suffolk County AA championship tournament. The leadership of the team’s nine senior student-athletes influenced its 17 underclassmen and took the team into the Suffolk County semifinal round. After beating Bay Shore High School in a best of three series, they ultimately fell to No. 1 seed Eastport-South Manor High School on May 25 by a score of 3-2.

“This team was two games short of a Suffolk County championship,” said coach Buderman. “I am so proud of what this team accomplished this season and look forward to even more with an incredible group returning.”

Congratulations to the 2018 Connetquot High School varsity baseball team and thank you for making this community proud of your success!
