Out of the kindness of their hearts, members of the Idle Hour Elementary School Student Government Club recently put together Comfort Kits for children and adults who are currently undergoing cancer treatments.

The students designed posters and flyers encouraging everyone in the building to donate items such as treats, head wraps, scarves, socks, magazines, lip balm, hand cream, crossword puzzles and magazines. The donations enabled the club to put together 12 comfort kits, which will be donated to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Commack. Additionally, each kit contains one Kindness Rock, which was made by the students and features an uplifting positive message to help the patients along the way of their treatment. 

“The students did an amazing job organizing the project and putting the kits together,” said Idle Hour Elementary School Youth and Family Services Coordinator Lara McNally.
