In an effort to both enhance and develop new linguistic skills, students enrolled in Donna Giambruno’s Italian classes at Ronkonkoma Middle School recently met with students in the district’s C-Quest program to give them a lesson on the language.

During their visit, the middle schoolers engaged the C-Quest students in a series of activities designed to teach them several Italian words, including how to say numbers, weather patterns, conversation etiquette, adjectives and the proper pronunciations of traditional Italian dishes. The younger students highly enjoyed themselves as they took part in these exercises, and were even granted the opportunity to put their skills to the test as they wrote down some of their favorite hobbies down on a worksheet utilizing the Italian words they learned.

With help from C-Quest advisers Lisa Manzo and Kevin Keane, the district’s C-Quest program is dedicated to enhancing the educational experience of fourth- and fifth-grade students. Based at Edward J. Bosti Elementary School, the C-Quest program services the needs of approximately 140 students throughout the district.
