Baseball Team Celebrates Senior Night With a Win
After an impressive 9-3 win over Sachem North High School, the Connetquot High School varsity baseball team will be making its way to the Suffolk County playoffs. With this win under its belt, the T-Birds now sit in second place in League II with an overall record of 12-6. Making the win that much more meaningful was the recognition of the graduating student-athletes, from both teams, during a Senior Day celebration held prior to the start of the game.
The T-Birds took an early lead against the visitors by holding them scoreless in the first inning while scoring two runs of their own. Derek Yalon went 3 for 4 with an RBI to lead the T-Birds, along with sophomore Matt Brown-Eiring who went 3 or 3 with two RBIs in the win against Sachem North. Alex Ungar, the winning pitcher, helped his own cause by going 2 for 2 with a stolen base.
Coach Buderman took time prior to the game to recognize and thank each of the seniors for their leadership and the examples they have become to the younger members of the team. The seniors were called out individually and presented with gifts, and their mothers were presented with a rose as well.
Good luck in the Suffolk County playoffs!

Varsity Softball Team Wraps Up Incredible Season
The Connetquot High School varsity softball team finished its season with seven wins and came incredibly close to a playoff spot on the last day of the regular season, but Ward Melville High School stepped in to take the 4-3 win, thus bringing Connetquot’s season to an end.
Despite the loss, the T-Birds played a great game and made the visitors work for the win. The Patriots took an early 4-0 lead, as the T-Birds quickly came back with three late-inning runs but ultimately fell short. Connetquot was led by their only two seniors, Jaclyn Kateridge and Julianna Prescia.
The last home game of the season was used to celebrate the program’s graduating student-athletes, and the loss to Ward Melville did not dampen the outpouring of love and affection for Jaclyn and Julianna. Teammates created posters and T-shirts honoring their graduating seniors, as parents and friends attended this last home game to celebrate the seniors’ dedication to the program.
Congratulations to the coaching staff and the 2018 varsity softball team for exceeding expectations, and a sincere thank-you to the graduating seniors and their families for their dedication to the program’s growing success.
