Bosti Elementary School fifth-grade student Amelia Gobetz has been declared a runner-up in Storyworks Magazine’s “Create a Character Writing Contest.”

Joanna Zalewski’s fifth-grade students were asked to create an original character for author Nora Raleigh Baskin, including such details as appearance, skills and hobbies, and their dreams for the future. Amelia’s character, named Emily, had the attributes of being beautiful and kind, enjoying lacrosse, helping out at an animal shelter, and struggling with multiplication problems.

“Her submission was one of 75 selected from over 2,000 total applicants for this contest,” said Mrs. Zalewski. “We are very proud of her!”
