Baseball Team Secures Impressive Win

The Connetquot High School varsity baseball team defeated Sachem North High School at home on April 30 by a final score of 6-1, moving the T-Birds into third place in the Suffolk League II division. 
The T-Birds have six games remaining in the regular season, with three against Central Islip High School and three more against Sachem North High School. 

Connetquot’s own Joseph Savino threw a four-hitter, struck out four batters and had an RBI in the win against the opposing team. Additionally, Savino kept the visitors from scoring until the top of the sixth inning.   

Nick Ungar went 2 for 4 with a single, double and scored a run. Derek Yalon went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for the T-Birds.  

With this win under their belt, the team improved to a record of eight wins and six losses.


Boys Lacrosse Team Claims Tremendous Victory

The Connetquot High School varsity lacrosse team overwhelmed Sachem North High School on Saturday, April 28, by a score of 16-5. 

Six T-Birds scored against the visitors, led by GQ Grippo with five goals and one assist. Student-athletes Tyler Cordes, Justin Crowe, Steven Pinto, Zach Pizzimenti and George Wichelns also scored for the T-Birds. By halftime, Connetquot already had a commanding lead as the scoreboard read 11-2.

Connetquot now holds the sixth-place position in the 22-school Suffolk County Division I with an overall record of 7-3. Michael Carere, Tyler Cordes, Justin Crowe, GQ Grippo, Dylan McDermott and George Wichelns accounted for 15 total assists which would ultimately contribute toward the win. Andrew Pinto made seven saves for the T-Birds, while Ryan Forberg was credited with two additional saves. 


Boys Track and Field Team Tops Sachem North on Senior Night

The Connetquot High School track and field team improved its overall record to 4-1 on May 1, defeating Sachem North High School, at home, on Senior Night, by an impressive score of 78-58. 

Track and field coaches Tim Fischer, Chris Pedersen and Shelby White thanked the seniors for their dedication to the T-Bird track program and wished them well as they move on to the challenges of college in the fall. The athletes’ parents distributed gifts to each of the seniors and provided a delicious Senior Night dinner for the team and spectators.

Highlights for this last home meet included Tom Domozych’s performance. He won the pole vault at 13 feet to finish first in that category.


Connetquot High School Girls Lacrosse Team Celebrates Victory on Senior Night

On May 2, the Connetquot High School girls lacrosse team welcomed the Brentwood Indians, recognized their seniors and came away with an impressive 15-4 win along the way. Additionally, a new tradition was born on this day, when the T-Birds presented members of the visiting team with a rose to commemorate their dedication to the Brentwood lacrosse program. 

Following the presentation to the visiting seniors, it was time to recognize Connetquot’s seniors who were each provided with a rose to present to their moms, as their proud family members looked on. Congratulations to the following seniors who will be graduating and continuing their athletics careers at the college setting this upcoming fall: Jessica Dillingham (St. Joseph’s College), Justine Ferrara (Farmingdale State College), Megan McLoughlin (University of New Haven), Victoria O’Toole (Quinnipiac University), Samantha Ramacca (University of Alabama) and Marina Skelly (University of New Haven). 

After the presentation of flowers and gifts to the seniors, Coach Piscitelli thanked them for their dedication to the Connetquot girls lacrosse program and expressed his confidence in their continued success in the classroom, as well as the lacrosse field, in college.

Highlights from the game included Justine Ferrara and Gina Barbera each scoring three goals, and Sydney Danseglio coming in with four saves against Brentwood. Cailey Lopez, Kate McAteer, Emma McLoughlin, Erin McLoughlin, Samantha Ramacca, Emma Schoefer, Marina Skelly and Kayla Valerioti also scored for the T-Birds throughout the duration of the match.
