Connetquot High School Boys Varsity Track Team Splits Home Opener

On Friday, April 13, the Connetquot High School boys track and field team continued its effort to make up for meets rescheduled as a result of this year’s surprising spring snow, competing against both Commack and Northport High Schools. While the T-Birds beat Northport by a score of 72.5–68.5, they were not able to overcome Commack, falling short by a final score of 73-68.

Highlights for Connetquot’s home opener included Tom Domozych taking first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.00 seconds flat, Haris Ali winning the 110-meter high hurdles in 16.3 seconds and Matt Lopez taking first against Commack in the 800-meter with a time of 2:03.

“Three of our triple jumpers went over an amazing 41 feet,” said Assistant Coach Shelby White. “Anthony Tricario jumped 41 feet, 9 inches, Jeremy Bertolet jumped 41 feet, 8 inches and Haris Ali cleared 41 feet.”

The victory against Northport was determined by the outcome of the very last race of the meet.  Connetquot’s 4x100-meter relay team of Mike Domozych, Tom Domozych, Emmanuel Kwansah and Anthony Tricario won the race, and ultimately, the meet, with a time of 45.76 seconds.
