Connetquot High School Boys Basketball Season Ends

The Connetquot High School boys basketball team made the Suffolk County championship playoff tournament for the first time since 2014, doubled its number of conference wins (8) and finished second in League II with a record of 12-8. While the T-Birds fell in the opening round of the tournament to Longwood High School by a final score of 67-55, the community, family and supportive friends were proud of the team’s growth, maturity and success.

Facing League I champions Longwood High School, the T-Birds knew they would be up for a challenge. The team fell behind early against Longwood but came back to cut the deficit to 9 points late in the game. Seth Goumba led the T-Birds with 21 points (including 13 free throws) while Eric Leo and Dylan Waring chipped in with 12 and 10 points of their own, respectively.

Coach Trava expressed his thanks to the players, his staff, and the Connetquot community for its tremendous support this season. With the addition of this year’s successful junior varsity team, Trava has reason to be optimistic next year as well.
