Connetquot High School Boys Basketball Team Celebrates 61-50 Win on Senior Night

On Tuesday, Feb. 6, prior to the Connetquot High School boys basketball game held at home against Lindenhurst High School, the graduating seniors and their proud family members were recognized by Coach Tim Trava and the community for their hard work and dedication. Congratulations to Alex Fremer, Seth Goumba, Eric Leo, Dylan McDermott, Michael Mohr, Adam Morales, Taylor Stepanek, Anthony Torres and Isaiah Witherspoon. 
The program began with an introduction of the seniors, presentation of a rose bouquet to each of their mothers, and recognition of their loving and supportive family members. Coach Trava, along with assistant coaches Matt Buderman and Keith Cussmano, spoke to the supportive crowd about how much progress the team has made this season, earning it a spot in the upcoming Suffolk County championship tournament.

During the game, the T-Birds got off to a fast start and led by a score of 10-2 early in the first quarter. They extended their lead to 31-17 at the half with great defense and sharp shooting, inside and out. Seth Goumba led Connetquot with 25 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Eric Leo added 14 points, while Taylor Stepanak pulled a team-high of 12 rebounds.  Connetquot improves their record to 12-8, and looks forward to the upcoming Suffolk County championship tournament.

Congratulations to all of the student-athletes for their dedication throughout the season, and a special thank-you for the leadership of their graduating seniors.

Connetquot High School Girls Basketball Team Celebrates Big Win on Senior Night

The Connetquot High School girls basketball team’s four senior student-athletes were recognized by the staff and fans for their contributions to the program, while earning an impressive 61-41 win against visiting Bay Shore High School on Friday, Feb. 2.  

Senior Victoria O’Toole has been a large contributing factor all season long, and against Bay Shore High School led the team with 15 points and 16 rebounds. Senior Madison Jasinski had 9 points and played outstanding defense. Emma Bunicci and Dayna McCall had 8 points each, while Morgan Elliott and Karly Hokenson contributed with 6 of their own.

Congratulations to the Connetquot High School Girls’ graduating seniors Kate Agnes, Alexis Brown, Madison Jasinski and Victoria O’Toole. Coaches Ecke, Hafner and Piscitelli, along with their teammates and the entire T-Bird community, thank you for your dedication to the success of the Connetquot High School girls’ basketball program.

Girls Winter Track Team Competes in 2018 Suffolk County Championships

The Connetquot High School girls winter track team recently participated in the Suffolk County championships held on Sunday, Feb. 4, at Suffolk County Community College, Brentwood campus. 

“Today was a full team effort; Connetquot was the only team to score in the top six teams in all three relays,” said Coach Jim Crowley III. “That exemplifies the excellent depth, talent and dedication of so many of our Connetquot athletes. I am very proud of all the girls and thankful to all the dedicated coaches as well.”   

Highlights of the championships included stunning displays of athleticism from the following student-athletes: Serena Roopnarine secured sixth place in the 1500m racewalk with a time of 7:29.68; Kelsie Naldbrett took seventh place in the 55m hurdles with a time of 9:45; Isabella Cottone, Eva Edwards, Kaitlyn Iocca, Emily Karl, Lexie Moore and Celina Shenk secured fifth place in the 4x800 relay race with a time of 10:19.88; Alicia Donlon, Eva Edwards, Janell Foston, Emily Medina, Kelsie Nardrett and Celina Shenk took home fifth place in the 4x400 relay race with a  time of 4:19.05; Janelle Foston, Alie Hardie, Bryanna Holguin, Erin McLoughlin, Madison Melito and Marina Skelly placed third in the 4x200 relay race with a time of 1:47.91; Bryanna Holguin took fourth place in the high jump; Erin McLoughlin placed fourth in the long jump and Bryanna Holguin secured fifth place in the triple jump.
