Based on both their musical talents and academic successes, nine Connetquot High School students have been recognized as premier musicians by the New York State School Music Association and invited to participate in this year’s All-State music festival.

The district congratulates students Alan Abreu (Symphony Orchestra), Marissa Caponi (Concert Choir), Daniel Darress (Concert Choir), Darren Dutton (Symphonic Band), Vincent Fasano (Piano Showcase/Ensemble), Anna Grottola (Concert Choir), Gillian Kearney (Symphonic Band), Thomas Mahon (Concert Choir) and Gabriella Perticone (Concert Choir) who have been named All-State student-musicians and were invited to participate in the 2017 NYSSMA All-State Conference to be held in Rochester, New York from Nov. 30-Dec. 3.

According to their official website, more than 6,500 sophomores and juniors from across the state of New York prepared for All-State evaluations in the hope of being selected and only 900 were chosen. Selection into this coveted festival is based on a student’s NYSSMA scores and teacher recommendation.
