Girls Volleyball Team Takes Home NYS Championship Title

The Connetquot High School girls varsity volleyball team defeated Shenendehowa High School at the Glens Falls Civic Center, in Glens Falls, New York, to win the New York State AA Volleyball championship for the second time in three years, coming into the tournament with a highly impressive, undefeated record at 18-0.

While Connetquot won the first set, it lost the next two and faced elimination. Led by Nicole Migliozzi, Cassandra Patsos and Under Armour All-American Mackenzie Cole, the T-Birds came back on track to win the next two sets 25-16 and 25-18 to defeat Shenendehowa and bring home the championship title!

Nicole and Cassandra were named to the All-Tournament team, while Mackenzie Cole was named the New York State Volleyball Tournament Most Valuable Player. Kudos to each member of the Connetquot girls varsity volleyball team, especially its graduating seniors who have been a driving force in the program’s overall success – Daniella Balsano, Mackenzie Cole, Taylor Konzen, Nicole Migliozzi, Cassandra Patsos, Skyla Schoppmeyer and Mackenzie Taylor.

The celebration began immediately after the win, with the teammates, coaches and large contingent of family and friends who traveled to Glens Falls on hand to show their support. On their way home to Long Island, the team visited the News 12 station for an exciting televised interview that was broadcast that night.

Additionally, the Bohemia Fire Department created a celebratory parade of vehicles to congratulate the team and welcome it home to a grateful Connetquot community. Over 100 excited fans welcomed it back to the high school and congratulated it on a tremendous victory and the New York State championship title.
