The exceptional musical talents of not one but two Connetquot High School student-musicians was front and center during this year’s Long Island’s Got Talent Competition as students, and brothers, Paul Foschino and Thomas Foschino recently took the stage.
During the competition, both students performed extremely well and Paul’s talents captured him first place, which included a $1,000 cash prize, and both were rewarded with scholarships toward Five Towns College in Dix Hills, New York.
The Foschino brothers come from a highly musical family, and credit their current musical talents to their hard work, determination and beginning their studies at a young age. Additionally, both boys are currently active in extracurricular music programs offered at Connetquot High School.
During the finals of the competition, which were held at the Educational and Cultural Center in Stony Brook Village, Thomas utilized his mesmerizing guitar skills to create “loops” of his vocals and instrumentation to cover Ed Sheeran’s popular hit, “Shape of You.” Paul performed Elton John’s classic “Your Song” and the Ben Folds Five hit “Philosophy,” enchanting the audience with his smooth vocals and impressive piano skills.
This year’s panel of judges consisted of Gerry Saulter of the Five Towns College Music Department, Ed Decorsia of New York’s Most Dangerous Big Band and accomplished actor Leer Leary.
