In recognition of their achievements, Ronkonkoma Middle School recently inducted 53 new members into the building’s chapter of the National Junior Honor Society.

The ceremony, which was coordinated by adviser Aimee Padavan, began with members lighting candles representing scholarship, character, leadership, citizenship and service. In order to be considered for a National Junior Honor Society membership, students must maintain an 85 average or above, make voluntary contributions to the school or community and showcase superior leadership skills.

“We are very proud to recognize these outstanding members of the Ronkonkoma Middle School student body,” said Ms. Padavan.

A reception honoring the inductees and their proud families was held in the cafeteria following the ceremony.
