Gymnastics Team Remains Undefeated at 4-0

The Connetquot High School gymnastics team came through again on Oct. 3 by defeating the visiting West Islip High School by a score of 166.995 to 155.69. Connetquot claims the top spot in the Suffolk League I standings, boasting an undefeated record of 4-0.
Alexa Smith finished first in the all-around (34.85) and the vault (9.1). Alexa also finished second on the bars (8.3), beam (8.65) and floor exercise (8.8). The entire team put together a strong display of athleticism to win the meet and maintain their continued success. Coach Renee Guerrieri looks forward to what the rest of this successful season holds.

Girls Volleyball Team Continues Winning Streak

The Connetquot High School girls volleyball team remains undefeated, as the student-athletes recently swept the visiting Northport High School team in three straight sets by final scores of 25-11, 25-11 and 25-9 on Oct. 3. Diana Migliozzi had seven digs and Julia Patsos had three aces as the T-Birds maintain sole possession of first place in Suffolk’s League II with an overall record of 7-0.

Connetquot, East Islip Swimming and Diving Teams Join Together for A Win

A friendly home crowd cheered for the T-Birds as they defeated a combined visiting team of Commack/Northport High School by a score of 96-88 on Oct. 2.
Connetquot’s Michelle Wootton won the 50-yard freestyle in a New York State-qualifying time of 24.60, and Camryn Kreuscher won the 100-yard freestyle in a New York State-qualifying time of 53.07. Additionally, the Connetquot team won the 200-m and 400-m freestyle relays.
Connetquot improves to 4-0 after previous wins against Ward Melville (94-90), East Hampton (100-88) and Sachem East (93-85). The T-Birds are off to a brilliant start and look forward to another successful championship season, as Connetquot High School Swimming and Diving Coaches Alex Scichilone and Jeff Shiebler joined the community in celebrating the teams’ many successes. The East Islip High School swimmers are part of this year’s Connetquot Swim program.

Girls Soccer Team Finishes with Draw in Double OT

In one of the most exciting girls soccer games played at Connetquot High School in years, Coach Ryan Cavanagh’s T-Birds took Lindenhurst High School into double overtime and earned a 0–0 tie at home on Oct. 4. Connetquot’s 5-3 record has earned the team a third-place position in the league just behind Lindenhurst, which holds second place to an undefeated Northport High School.
Connetquot goalie Emma Bunicci made nine saves in the game, but her save of an indirect kick by Lindenhurst with less than four minutes to play preserved the shutout, which led to a scoreless final after two overtimes. The T-Birds had a chance to take the lead with less than 10 seconds left, but Lindenhurst unfortunately made an outstanding save to deny Connetquot the win.
Congratulations to Coach Cavanagh and the Lady T-Birds on an outstanding effort against Lindenhurst High School. Connetquot hosts William Floyd High School at home on Saturday, Oct. 7.
