Mindfulness and CPR Techniques Shared with Staff

The district recently hosted its annual Superintendent’s Conference Day, inviting all staff and employees to come together and learn best practices in preparation for the upcoming school year.

This year’s keynote speaker, Cory Muscara, Founder and CEO of The Long Island Center for Mindfulness, joined district staff members at the Noel S. Ruiz Theatre at CM Performing Arts Center for a presentation which acquainted the attendees with a deeper understanding of mindfulness techniques. Muscara is a renowned mindfulness teacher, speaker and coach, who, according to his website, utilizes his extensive professional training in mindfulness, positive psychology, and integrative health coaching to facilitate a client’s creation of, and movement toward, their optimal vision of health and well-being.

Additionally, faculty and staff learned about innovations in mindfulness to be used in the classroom and personal practice, courtesy of Carin Winter, CEO and founder of Mission Be, and Alison Cohen, certified Mindful Schools Instructor.

Included in the professional development opportunities provided throughout the program was a workshop on hands-on CPR. The training demonstration, presented by Dr. Chris Byron of Nationwide Instruction for Cardiovascular Education, equipped the attending staff members with life-saving information and techniques that all attendees will be able to utilize should an emergency arise.
