In an effort to make a real-life connection to literature, Bosti Elementary School fifth-grade teacher Colleen Malone had her students read “Wonder,” a New York Times bestseller by R.J. Palacio in which main character Auggie Pullman, who has a severe facial deformity, attends school for the first time as a fifth-grader.

Bosti fifth-grader Caleigh Dale invited her cousin, Jeremy, whose life parallels Auggie’s, to interact with the class via a prerecorded video. Mrs. Malone’s students sent Jeremy questions, and Jeremy’s mother was kind enough to create a video of him answering them.
