Boys Lacrosse Team Advances to Suffolk County Championship Tournament

On Tuesday, May 16, coach Brett Jeffares witnessed the Connetquot boys lacrosse team outplay Sachem North (9-8) in the first round of the postseason tournament and bring home a 17-10 win. With this victory, Connetquot improved its record to 11-6 and has moved on to the next round of the tournament.

George Wichelns had six goals and six assists, while Justin Crowe had three goals and two assists. Additionally, GQ Grippo had two goals and three assists, and Michael Carere won 19 of 30 face-offs.

Connetquot led the game by 11-4 at the half and kept the pressure on throughout the last 20 minutes. T-Bird goalie Andrew Pinto recorded 16 saves on goal and was a major contributing factor in this first round win.
Connetquot’s win moves the T-Birds into the quarterfinals, which will be held at Smithtown East on Friday, May 19 at 4 p.m. Good luck, Connetquot!


Softball Team Bounces Back to Defeat William Floyd High School

After a heartbreaking loss to West Islip High School early in the week, the Connetquot High School varsity softball team rallied together to eliminate William Floyd High School in the first round of the Suffolk County AA Playoff tournament the next day by a score of 10-3!

Connetquot’s Julianna Prescia hit a towering home run to deep left field, drove in a total of five runs and scored two runs herself, leading the T-Birds to their 18th win of the season. Alyssa Leo had two RBIs, while Rebecca Schwartz and Kayla Kenehan each scored two runs themselves. Sarah McKeveny pitched another complete game with nine strikeouts, in addition to scoring twice. Coach Michelle Goodwin was pleased with the team’s overall effort against William Floyd and looks forward to their continued success against Bay Shore High School at home on Friday, May 19 at 4 p.m.   


Boys Varsity Tennis Team Finishes Season on High Note

The Connetquot boys varsity tennis team garnished an impressive list of accomplishments this past athletic season on both the team and individual levels.

Among those accomplishments, the team took home a second-place finish in League 3 with an 8-2 record, ranked 11th among all Suffolk County tennis teams, and advanced to the “Sweet Sixteen,” winning a round against Mt. Sinai before being defeated by Westhampton Beach.

The team experienced a high level of success on the individual level as well, boasting five All-League athletes, two All-Division athletes and three All-County athletes.

Student-athlete Ciro Baldinucci was victorious in the Divisional Singles Championship, winning four matches without dropping a set. Ciro was followed by Alan Sabovic in third place and Kenny Haller in sixth place.


Boys Varsity Baseball Team Concludes Outstanding Season

After a very successful season, the Connetquot High School boys varsity baseball team lost to Brentwood High School on May 15 by a final score of 10-2. Despite this loss, the team will be back with their heads held high ready for another great season of T-Birds baseball!
