Spring Sports Season Begins Photo

Connetquot High School athletics are now in full swing, as the teams have begun their spring season of sports. Below is an overview of the season’s first games.

Boys Varsity Tennis
The boys varsity tennis team welcomed their Sayville High School league rivals and earned their first win of the season on March 21. Connetquot finished with an overall score of 5-2, with the T-Birds winning all four singles matches. Coach Ryan Cavanagh was pleased with the win and looks forward to another successful season.



Girls Lacrosse
The girls lacrosse team won their opening game on March 21 by a score of 11-5 against Patchogue-Medford High School. McKenzie Richardson scored three goals for the T-Birds, while Jolie Urraro added two goals and two assists and goalie Sydney Danseglio had 13 saves. Coach Sal Piscitelli hopes to build on this first win and looks forward to the team’s continued improvement.

 

 

Girls Softball
In their last spring training game of the season on March 21, the girls softball team took on Deer Park High School and came away with the win. Coach Michelle Goodwin was pleased with the T-Birds’ efforts in the field, at bat and on the bases. The staff is looking forward to the first official game of the season, and expectations are high.

  

Boys Lacrosse
The boys lacrosse team opened their regular season against a determined Islip High School team on March 21. The T-Birds came from behind to tie the score at 5-5 late in the fourth quarter, but Islip ultimately broke the tie to earn the win. T-Bird goalie Andrew Pinto had seven saves, while George Wichelms, Justin Crowe, Tyler Cordes, G.Q. Grippo and Steven Pinto each scored a goal for Connetquot. Wichelms provided an additional two assists for the opening game of the season. Coach Brett Jeffares was pleased with the athletes’ performance and looks forward to another successful season.
