Illuminating Education

Fourth-graders at Cherokee Street Elementary School recently put their engineering skills to the test as they took part in a fun and exciting STEM-related activity. With the help of representatives from the Maritime Explorium, students used modular circuits, wires and safe construction materials to design and construct a working lighthouse or beacon. Throughout the activity, students collaborated with one another to discuss the best practices for ensuring that their lighthouse would not only look fantastic, but that the light source would ultimately be visible.
