In connection with their classroom studies, 81 eighth-graders in Ken Leman’s social studies classes at Ronkonkoma Middle School recently took a trip to the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County to gain a deeper understanding of this tragic period in history.

After a welcome from the center’s director, Tracy Garrison-Feinberg, the students  broke into small groups for a guided tour of the museum’s interactive exhibits. They also received firsthand accounts of the period during a question-and-answer session with Holocaust survivors Anita Weisbord and Alex Konstantyn.
