Eighth-grade students enrolled in Keri Trojanowski’s and Shanna Vilbig’s math, science and technology classes at Oakdale-Bohemia Middle School were able to put their recently acquired forensic skills to the test as they investigated the staged murder crime scene of Assistant Principal Joseph Piombo in the school library.

After spending approximately eight class sessions analyzing DNA, fingerprints, handwriting and hair samples planted at the scene, the students were able to draw informed conclusions about the nature of the crime based on the clues left behind.
